UExcel examinations test for college-level knowledge in a range of disciplines, from Calculus and Physics to Spanish and Political Science. Just as in a traditional educational setting, yet at a much cheaper cost, students who take UExcel exams receive a letter grade. Each passed exam earns from 3 – 6 credits. The grade and the recommended credit are recorded on an official Excelsior College transcript.

The exams are subjected to rigorous statistical analysis and standard-setting procedures, including an evaluation by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT), which has provided recommendations for UExcel examinations.
